Ami Carmel
Ami means “friend” in French, and for Annee Martin, being able to create a lifestyle, pursue her passion, and bring her team's individual gifts and talents to this business, is very important. To present things to people in a beautiful way, create experiences for people and give back to the community, is our collective mission.
“We come to this business with a deep, personal connection to one another, and we want to share our vision with people, not only in our brick-and-mortar store in Carmel By The Sea, but online as well.
With a shop that has such a wide variety of special items, we love to be responsible for creating a moment for people, and affect them in a way that is meaningful.”
Meet Annee Martin
Annee is an ambassador for the Monterey County Hospitality Association, founding board member of the MCVRA, and she is founder of Kindness Monterey, a campaign that focuses on helping local restaurants and encourages kindness and generosity in her community. Annee lives with her husband David Martin, a well-known local architect, and their AFRP rescue dog, Gracee Blossom Joy, ambassador of Goodwill.
Inspirer in Chief
Annee’s role at Ami is predicated on her love and passion for creating beautiful, nurturing experiences.
Her extensive background includes many years in the restaurant and hospitality business—beginning when she was just 11 years old. In addition, she has spent time as a therapist, professional chef, inn owner, cookbook author, interior designer, real estate consultant, professional stager, and an occasional artist and writer.
Annee has a passion for creating memorable experiences and founded Sanctuary Vacation Rentals on the Monterey Peninsula in 2007. Her hope is to continue to promote caring for self, others, and community at Ami.
